How To Setup Your Router to Use Bit Torrent Files

First you will need your IP address, if you are not sure
what it is a quick short cut is to go to IPchicken.com. Just type ipchicken.com
into your browser address bar click enter and it will show you your current IP
address.
If you still are not able to determine your current IP address then follow
the steps below.
1. Click on the start menu at the bottom of your
screen.
2. Select run and click on it.
3. Enter cmd in the box and click enter.

4. This will bring you to the command prompt screen.
5. Type in ipconfig click enter and your Ip
address will be displayed.

6. Next step is to enter your Ip address into
your web browser's address bar and hit enter

7.This will open the router interface login. If
you have not programmed a password into your router yet you can usually skip the
user name and just enter admin in the password box and click enter. If
for some reason you cannot login to the router check you router's home page on
the web. Almost all manufacturers have detailed help and some have free
telephone help to talk you through the setup. A quick shortcut would be to turn
off the router, unplug it wait about 2 minutes, plug it back in, depress the
reset button on the back of the unit and then try step 6 and 7


8. This will bring you to the router administration
screen. Most routers have similar administration setup pages. Click on either
applications and gaming or port range forwarding.

9. Here you enter your bit torrent client software name
in the application box and then the ports it is using. You can find the exact
ports at portforward.com for your software client. Once you have entered this
information don't forget to click the SAVE settings button or the
Apply button at the bottom of the screen and then restart your computer,
that's it you are done.

Be sure to check your bit torrent client software for
the exact ports that work with your router no matter what model.Go to
portforward.com, select the bit torrent client you are using then select the
brand of router and it will give you the exact ports for your router and client.
